Every time the brackets officially get set for NCAA March Madness 2021, there are always a few teams that stand out among the rest. NCAA March Madness 2021 Preview
- But which teams are the best of the best?
- And which teams still have a strong shot at going far in the NCAA March Madness 2021 tournament despite not being a top seed?
5 Best College Basketball teams to bet on
Let's take a look at the best College Basketball teams to bet on this NCAA March Madness 2021.
Gonzaga
This feat makes them the first team since 2015 Kentucky to enter the tournament without a single loss on their record.
It is truly fascinating that this roster boasts three players that could genuinely be named to the All-American team. They have Corey Kispert, Drew Timme and Jalen Suggs helping them stand their place as the top offense in the sport while defeating their opponents by an average of 23 points, yes you read that correctly.
They shoot at a high percentage from behind the arc while also dropping in 63.9 percent of their two-point attempts, a stat is incredibly hard to surpass. But just like any team they could easily be upset in the early rounds, but I just can’t see that happening given the talent and excellence that they have sustained this year.

Next up we have Illinois.
Outside of the clear-cut favorites in Gonzaga, I believe that Illinois will be the second most picked team to win it all when the NCAA March Madness 2021 tournament first begins.
Ayo Dosunmu is the superstar of this team and he has since nicknamed himself the Masked Mamba. Illinois ranks in the top five in the tournament in defensive efficiency while also being in the top seven in offensive efficiency.
It is also worth mentioning Dosunmu’s teammates as they are a big part of the reason that this team is here. Kofi Cockburn has shockingly picked up comparisons to Shaq while he was in college, he is completely dominating teams in the paint both defensively and offensively while Andre Curbelo has pitched on to help the team in other ways and is incredibly fun to watch. They could make some noise this year.

Baylor is the final team that should be considered a favorite to win it all this year.
They did suffer a loss in the Big 12 semifinals but still have a 22-2 record. Some COVID-19 issues during the middle of the year may have set them back a step and susceptible for an early loss but they should still be able to get the job done anyways.
This happens to be the best season in school history and the combination of Jared Butler and Davion Mitchell happen to be two of the top 20 players in America right now.
Their defense has dropped pretty low since COVID hit their team, but they definitely have the offensive talent to keep them afloat.
Bet Baylor HEREMichigan
One of the NCAA March Madness 2021 outsiders looking in at the favorites is Michigan.
Many people still have Michigan winning it all this year, but the status of their superstar player Isaiah Livers changes their odds completely.
I would say that they are one of, if not the second-best team in the tournament with Livers healthy and in the lineup but are nowhere near the same team without him. The reason that they have been so good with and without Livers is because of their off the ball movement offensively.
They all put so much effort into gaining separation for a good shot and the best part about that is that they also shoot very consistently from behind the arc to pair nicely with their separation.
Then moving into the painted area they have one of the best big men in the tournament in Hunter Dickinson, a guy that has rolled over his opponents in the post and plays both ends of the floor at a high level.
Iowa
Iowa is another outsider that has a strong chance at winning it all.
The biggest reason that they are still a great team is because they boast arguably the best player in the tournament in Luka Garza, as he leads their offense to the second best in the event behind only Gonzaga. But they don’t just get it done offensively, they have improved every single game on the defensive end and could ride that dominance to championship run.
Joe Wieskamp is also a fantastic player who has an NBA future with excellent three-point shooting. The downfall of this roster is that they don’t jump off the page at you in any area but are so solid all around that you have to figure they would make it pretty deep into the tournament.
Like I said, they may not go very far after all but are so good in every category that you have to imagine they would win a few games.
