With March Madness just around the corner, college basketball fans are gearing up to make their picks for the overall winner.

But, which teams are likely to walk away victorious from March Madness?

Houston Cougars

At the moment, the Houston Cougars are the clear favorites to walk away with the championship.

At the moment, we do think that the Houston Cougars have enough of that winning mentality to pick up the championship.

While they haven't been playing the ‘big' teams, the wins that they have been picking up are surely going to be motivational.

There is a reason why they are the odds-on favorite at the moment.

That being said, we would have to see how Houston Cougars start to perform against the big teams during March Madness.

On paper, they are nowhere close to being the best team.

But, if they can work together?

Who knows.

Kansas Jayhawks

 

Hot on the tail of the Houston Cougars is the Kansas Jayhawks.

They picked up the NCAA Championship in 2022 and, with the Kansas Jayhawks boasting the best college basketball program in the US, you would think that they have a reasonable chance this year too.

The problem is that their wins have never felt convincing enough for us.

The defense at the Kansas Jayhawks is sloppy right now, and we can't see the coaches whipping it into line before March Madness.

On their day, the Kansas Jayhawks could easily walk away with the NCAA Championship in 2023.

The team can be great when it is willing to put in the effort. However, a couple of sloppy errors from their defense and it will be game over.

UConn Huskies

 

Up until a month or so ago, the UConn Huskies were a rank outsider.

They had a reasonable chance, but nobody seemed to believe they had it in them to win the NCAA Championship.

The last time they won the tournament was back in 2014.

If they are able to carry that momentum into March Madness, then they could be picking up their first win in 7 years.

Alabama Crimson Tide

 

This is another team that has seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

While not the clear favorites, some bookmakers think that they have a decent chance.

They have, however, won 4 of their last five games (and they completely hammered Georgia in one).

The game that they lost (against Texas) could easily have gone either way.

Again, we wouldn't have these as the top favorite.

We still think it is the Houston Cougars, but the Alabama Crimson Tide could be a great outside bet.

The best part is that many bookmakers still haven't woken up to how great the Alabama Crimson Tide can be, which means you can still score some tremendous odds on an outright.

Stick with one of these teams, and we reckon that you have a fair shot of winning a futures bet.
