2022 NFL Hall of Fame Game Preview, Best Picks and Where To Bet

2022 NFL Hall of Fame Preview
Football is officially back! The Jacksonville Jaguars will be going head-to-head with the Las Vegas Raiders in the NFL Hall of Fame Game to mark the start of the 2022-23 campaign.
Meanwhile, the Raiders haven’t played in this game since the year 2006.
Not at long as the Jaguars, but still a good chunk of time nonetheless.
They are participating this year due to both Richard Seymour and Cliff Branch being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

2022 NFL Hall of Fame Game Predictions
Now, getting into the predictions of this game, don’t expect to see a high scoring affair.
Plus, even if we do get to see a few new faces, they won’t be out there too long. For example, the newly added Davante Adams is probably not going to be sharing the field with Derek Carr much for this Raiders offense.
Because of this, the game will be low scoring. The Hall of Fame game has actually had a tendency to be on the lower end in terms of points throughout the last decade.
We saw just 19 points scored in 2021, 24 in 2019, 33 in 2018, 38 in 2017, 17 in 2015, 30 in 2014, 44 in 2013 and 27 in 2012.
As you could see, just three of those games crossed the 30-point mark, and only one broke 40 combined points.
Jaguars Chances
- We know right now that both Trevor Lawrence and C.J. Beathard won’t be playing a single snap during this matchup.
- The second-year running back Travis Etienne won’t be out there either.
This means that both Jake Luton and Kyler Sloter will be playing the majority of the game to try and pull them to a victory.
As you could probably expect with these preseason games, the quarterback position is the most valuable due to so many different players coming in and out of the lineup throughout the night.
Luton does in fact have NFL experience which could help him in the early stages of the game and Sloter has a lot of athletic talent that could push them over the edge late in the game when he steps in.
Sloter was able to complete 111 out of 150 of his passes throughout the years 2017 to 2019.
During those passes, he threw 11 touchdowns compared to just a single interception.
He certainly has proven that he can take on a large role at the position when given the opportunity.
On top of all that, the Jaguars will be going into their first official game with Doug Pederson as their new head coach.
This is coming after a disastrous year with Urban Meyer at the helm. The former Super Bowl winning head coach could bring a new spark to them, even with some interesting players on the roster at the moment.
Raiders Chances
Then on the other hand we have the Raiders. Judging by previous years, Derek Carr is likely not to touch the field similar to Lawrence and Beathard.
Carr didn’t register a single preseason snap throughout all of last year, which is multiple games, not just the first one.
We’ve seen him get some starting time in the NFL regular season with the San Francisco 49ers, so he’s actually one of the more experienced signal callers that will be playing.
When Mullens gets switched out of the game, we could then see Jarrett Stidham. Stidham was supposed to be the starter for the New England Patriots when Tom Brady left, but Cam Newton signed with them and was significantly better.
Then the following year, Stidham lost another quarterback competition to the newly drafted Mac Jones.
- Outside of Stidham, we have Chase Garber, the undrafted rookie who is pretty much going to be a wild card here in this game.
- Similar to the Jaguars though, the Raiders have an entirely new coaching staff to be working with.
- Josh McDaniel's will be working with the Raiders for the first time.

What Is NFL Public betting and Best Strategy to Employ
Looking at each of these teams right now, it’s hard to decide upon a winner.
I personally like what Mullens has shown in the NFL so far, after all there’s a reason that he started some important games when Jimmy Garoppolo went down.
However, the rest of the Raiders roster might be a little less reliable.
For example, we don’t really know what we will be getting out of McDaniel's or the other two signal callers in the offense like Garber and Stidham.
They also had to leave camp early in order to prepare for this matchup.
I think that there is going to be too many question marks for the Jaguars when Mullens steps out of that lineup. It is going to leave the door wide open for a player like Sloter to come in and utilize that athleticism at the quarterback position to pull them back and close the game out.
He currently seems like a much better option than Stidham or Garber.
Over/Under Prediction
So, if you are looking to bet on the over/under, then the under seems like the appropriate option considering the players that won’t be suiting up and the trend over the past ten years.Team Prediction
They are a hungrier team with more to prove than the Raiders, with extra time in camp and a Super Bowl winning head coach.
It’s hard to bet against that in a game that usually gets decided by coaching and young talent this early in the preseason.
