Super Bowl 2023 Odds Early Contenders
The following preview highlights the best odds available for early favorites and dark horses.
Kansas City Chiefs (+1000)
Surprisingly, the Kansas City Chiefs remain one of the favorites to win the upcoming Super Bowl at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Now, they certainly have a ton of questions to answer before we should be considering them full blown contenders again.
The trade that sent Tyreek Hill over to the Miami Dolphins may end up hurting them more than they expect. While the addition of Juju Smith-Schuster attempts to fill the void, Hill isn’t a guy that you can just replace.
Defensively, we all know that they have some question marks on that end also with key players leaving including Tyrann Mathieu.
At the end of the day though, the Chiefs have a real shot to win it all due to Patrick Mahomes being on the roster.
A generational type of quarterback that has been in the AFC Championship four straight seasons now. I definitely wouldn’t count them out.

Buffalo Bills (+660)
The Bills are right in front of the Chiefs in the current odds and in my opinion, they are the scariest team in the league moving forward.
Josh Allen should have taken them deeper into the postseason last year, had it not been for horrible secondary coverage down the stretch of their Divisional Game against the Chiefs.
This is a group that has a great offensive line, a solid coaching staff, excellent playmakers at the skill positions and a defense that is very deep.
To top it all off, their recent draft class saw them haul in a few secondary players that should definitely improve that area of their defense.
This isn’t even mentioning the addition of two-time Super Bowl champion Von Miller to their linebacker room. They have really struggled to beat the Chiefs over the last couple of years but this feels like the time Allen and Buffalo really take that next step into superstardom.

Los Angeles Rams (+1000)
Obviously, the Los Angeles Rams had to be somewhere on this list. After all, they just won the Super Bowl themselves.
Speaking of that, Aaron Donald admitted that he was thinking about retirement and only really wanted to return if the band was brought back together.
Some are assuming that it’s common knowledge that he wants to return, but Von Miller did end up leaving in free agency.
Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp keep this offense competitive no matter what as well. Though they might need some offensive line help down the road.
Then on the defense, it sure helps to have the number one cornerback in the league and the number one defensive tackle.
In my opinion, I feel like the Rams won’t be able to pull off a repeat. There just seems like a lot of holes on the roster that didn’t get fixed during the offseason while multiple other teams got significantly better.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+720)
Well, this certainly changed. Just a few weeks ago, everybody was anticipating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to fly down the rankings again following the retirement of Tom Brady.
Brady then announced that he will be unretiring, just a few weeks after his initial announcement.
The addition of Brady back into this offense keeps them running at the championship level they are hoping to be at.
Guys like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin continue to stick around and their defense looks young and hungry.
The main issue that I currently see is the age of Brady potentially catching up, yes, I know that we have been saying this for years but it has to happen at some point, right?
I also worry that their offensive line took too big of a hit during the offseason.
They grabbed some solid replacement pieces there but the chemistry is likely to be slightly off towards the beginning of the season.
We all know that Brady isn’t in a position to be taking a ton of hits throughout the course of the regular season. It’s an interesting team to follow, Brady keeps them in the championship conversation.

Los Angeles Chargers (+1525)
Now onto some of the dark horse candidates to win the Super Bowl.
The Los Angeles Chargers are a personal favorite of mine because of how underrated they seem to be at the moment.
These past few years the Chargers have been known as the team with incredible talent that just can’t win consistently.
This time around, they feel like a different organization. Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams are a force to be reckoned with on offense first of all.
Second, they added superstar talents on the defensive side with Khalil Mack, JC Jackson and Sebastian Joseph Day.
These guys will now partner up with Joey Bosa and Derwin James, two already great talents.
I don’t know about you guys, but this team has all the makings for a deep playoff run.
The only obstacle that really lies in their way is experience. We just haven’t seen players like Herbert really go the distance lately and play in a super meaningful game.
Just look at how they lost last season's finale to the Las Vegas Raiders, missing out on a playoff spot.

Denver Broncos (+1575)
The final dark horse team that we will cover is the Denver Broncos. People have been saying for years now that the Broncos are just a quarterback away from contending for a Super Bowl.
After all, they haven’t had a good one since Peyton Manning decided to retire from the league.
Well, the Broncos went out and got their superstar quarterback. They traded for Seattle Seahawks franchise star Russell Wilson.
Wilson joins an incredible roster that was already in place.
Guys like Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick are going to be fantastic weapons for him in the pass game.
Javonte Williams looked like a breakout star last season at the running back spot.
Then players like Patrick Surtain and Justin Simmons are among the top players at their respective positions on the defensive end.
Same with the Chargers though, Denver hasn’t really had the playoff experience at all since Manning left.
If they want to win it all, Wilson will need to take his leadership skills to the next level to make it happen.
