Season Series
The Magic have lost the last 13 meetings with the Hornets (last win: Dec. 16, 2015, Orlando, 113-98) and 16 of the last 19 overall. On Oct. 19 in Orlando this season, the Hornets rolled 120-88. Kemba Walker scored a game-high 26 points as Charlotte handed Orlando its sixth largest home loss in team history. On New Year’s Eve in Charlotte, the Hornets won 125-100. Walker led six Hornets in double figures with 24 points, including 20 during the first half. The Magic opened the game with a 14-4 run, but Charlotte dominated the rest of the contest. The Hornets outscored Orlando in the first quarter, 36-23, and led by as many as 35 points during the second half.
Orlando is 50-53 all-time vs. Charlotte (29-23 at home, 21-30 on the road).
Why Bet on Charlotte?
The Charlotte Hornets are great at home and just suck royally on the road. That was on display Monday in a 99-90 loss in Indiana. Kemba Walker scored half of the Hornets’ points during a 10-3 spurt to open the third quarter, made three consecutive free throws to get Charlotte within 64-57 and then made 3 with 1:02 left in the quarter to cut the deficit to 72-71. But Myles Turner and Darren Collison closed out the third with back-to-back baskets, and the game was never much in doubt after that. The Hornets were 7 of 40 on 3s, 25 of 33 on free throws and shot a season-low 32.2 percent.
Walker, who will start Sunday’s All-Star Game in Charlotte, had another monster game in hitting 10-of-23 shots and 10-of-12 free throws for 34 points. Walker finished as a +11, but Charlotte’s second unit was destroyed. Walker topped off his line with nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and four triples in 39 minutes. He has five straight games with 30+ points and averaging 34.0 points, 7.0 assists, 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 5.2 triples in that span.
Jeremy Lamb combined for 21 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. It marked Lamb’s 10th game of at least 20 points this season, good for second most on the team behind only Walker. Lamb has scored 20+ points a career-high 10 times in 53 appearances this season after recording five such games in 80 appearances a season ago.
Shelvin Mack struggled awfully in his Charlotte debut on Monday, finishing scoreless with two missed shots, one assist and one steal in 12 minutes. He was a -20 during his time on the floor. Mack will be competing with Devonte’ Graham (illness) for third-string PG duties once Tony Parker (back) comes back. Parker is doubtful to play on Thursday. He has sat out the past three games, and he was limited at Wednesday’s practice.

Why Bet on Orlando?
The Orlando Magic won a fourth straight on Tuesday, 118-88 in New Orleans. Pels star Anthony Davis scored just three points on 1-of-9 shooting and was thoroughly outplayed by Orlando center Nikola Vucevic. Davis’ scoring output Tuesday was the lowest of his career in any game where he played at least 21 minutes. “We sucked,” Davis said. “Nobody was interested in playing, is what it looked like.”
The Magic outrebounded New Orleans 58-42. They had 32 assists on 42 made field goals and combined to make 21 of 22 free throws. Jonathan Isaac scored a career-high 20 points, including 16 in the first quarter, when Orlando raced to a 39-11 lead. Isaac hit 7-of-18 shots overall and a couple 3-pointers for his 20 points, seven rebounds, one assist and three blocks.
Vucevic torched the Pelicans for 25 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a 3-pointer on 10-of-18 shooting. Vucevic has led (or tied) the team in scoring 26 times, in rebounding 46 times and in assists 12 times. He has scored in double figures 55 times, 20+ points 32 times and 30+ points five times. He has team-high 40 double-doubles and one triple-double.
D.J. Augustin hit just 1-of-3 shots for two points, five rebounds, and six assists in 20 minutes. Wesley Iwundu came off the bench for 17 minutes and hit 3-of-6 shots and two 3-pointers for eight points, three rebounds, two steal, and two blocks.
It marks the first time Orlando has recorded a four-game winning streak since Nov. 25-Dec. 3, 2015, when the Magic won five straight.
