[table_list num=”40″ cat=”sports” sort=”rating” small_table=”true” logo_color_box=”true” show_table_sorting=”true” logo_aff_link=”true”]A lot has changed in the world since April of 2020, including the Masters tournament.
Instead of being played on the typical second weekend of April, the tournament was moved until this upcoming weekend. Not only does that come with a huge change to the schedule, but a lot can change about the players and tournament in that timeframe too.
The course will certainly not be as colorful during these fall months now as they would have been in the blooming months of April. Although that is simply for aesthetics, what really matters is how the players have changed, and who the odds now favor.
Who is the Favorite to Win the Masters?
Bryson DeChambeau
Bryson DeChambeau has certainly made the biggest change out of any golfer in the sport since the world changed with COVID-19.
Instead of taking the newfound time off to relax and enjoy some time with family, he immediately went into full grind mode. This man put on thirty to forty pounds of muscle at this point to hit the ball further than ever before.
If you look at old pictures of himself, he looks like a completely different person now. He has also taken a much more scientific approach to the game, working on using the same stroke for every shot and maximizing the power he can generate by maximizing his club shaft length.
All of these changes play a huge factor into this week as they earn him the best odds to win out of all the competitors. Although his new techniques are still being heavily debated today, the results have shown that it does work after all.
He won the 2020 U.S. Open about a month ago, which showed that he has the potential to become the next generation of golf. Bryson is the out right front runner for the favorite to win this week, but he will have to compete against a long list of star studded golfers.
Who to Watch for Safe Picks in the Masters?
- Dustin Johnson
- Jon Rahm
- Justin Thomas
One of the most unique factors about golf is that anyone can win on any given week.
Now of course there are some golfers that are better than others, but every single shot is different and has near endless possible outcomes. With so much room for error, and so much competition amongst the field, anyone can win any tournament.
This makes golf betting quite difficult, but it also makes the correct picks so much more rewarding.
Here we want to analyze some safe bets from the middle of the pack this week. These players are the popular names in the sport, but that is simply because they constantly sit at the top rankings of the best golfers in the world.
[box_text]Some high tier possible bets would be the likes of Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, and Justin Thomas.[/box_text]Dustin Johnson
These players are currently the top three golfers in the world, and Dustin Johnson specifically has had some experience with major championships before. With his fine showing in the annual U.S. Open championships, having won one before, he has some experience dealing with the pressure and composure that is needed to win under the spotlight.
He has also recently won the Tour Championship which is another great example of his potential to win this upcoming masters. Another safe bet would certainly be this consistent star.
Jon Rahm
Another one of his counterparts is Jon Rahm who has also won recently on the PGA Tour.
In fact he edged out Dustin Johnson in a playoff to win the BMW Championship. This victory came with some outside putts that were well over sixty feet, that only a PGA player could make.
He has been known to rival Dustin Johnson and after that playoff victory, he could certainly do it again. So be on the lookout for Jon Rahm in these US Masters golf predictions.
Justin Thomas
The final player to put a safe bet on would be Justin Thomas.
He is certainly one of the least experienced guys in the field, as his breakout year came in 2017. Despite his short experience he has still spent time atop the World Number One golf ranking. He has also won the PGA Championship before, his only major victory.
Although with this experience, he may not be able to hold under pressure. With his young temperament and inexperience, he may have trouble performing to everyone’s level of expectations. Nonetheless, he is still a safe bet and lookout for him come Sunday.
Who is the Underdog for the Masters?
Tiger Woods
Now of course nobody can talk about the Masters tournament without mentioning the name Tiger Woods. Coming off of his amazing victory last year at this tournament, it is possible that he repeats his performance this year.
To be fair, nobody expected him to win it last year either and people made huge dividends on those bets. As being arguably the best golfer of all time, and having an enormous amount of experience compared to the rest of the field, he could pull it off again.
Now this is a big IF, Tiger Woods hasn’t won an event on the tour in a little over a year. Although one more win puts him down as the single player with the most wins in PGA Tour history. Again, this is a big IF which is exactly why Tiger Woods is only a sleeper pick compared to the rest of the group.
Who Will Win the 2020 Masters?
[box_text]Based on these US Masters golf betting tips, if I was limited to one single bet, I would put my money on Bryson DeChambeau.[/box_text]Although golf is a tough sport to predict with so many wildcards filling the tournament roster, anyone can win any given Sunday.
The other favorites are Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, and Justin Thomas, but a big sleeper would be Tiger Woods.
Who knows what the final outcome may be, but no matter what it will be an excellent tournament to watch. To make things easier to follow along, we have included the yardage chart for Augusta National below.
Enjoy the tournament!
