Magic vs Raptors 2019 NBA Playoffs Odds & Pick for Game 2

Magic vs Raptors 2019 NBA Playoffs Odds & Pick for Game 2.

The most surprising result of the first round of these NBA playoffs thus far was the No. 7 Orlando Magic winning at the No. 2 Toronto Raptors as nearly double-digit NBA Betting underdogs in Game 1. The two play again Tuesday with Toronto solidly favored to even things up.

How to Bet Magic vs Raptors 2019 NBA Playoffs Odds & Game 2 Info

Why Bet on Orlando?

The Magic took the opener, 104-101. The best point guard on the floor wasn’t Raptors All-Star Kyle Lowry but Orlando journeyman DJ Augustin. He scored a team-best 25 points (9-of-13 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs) with two rebounds, six assists, one steal, and four 3-pointers in 30 minutes. Augustin matched his playoff career-high in the Magic’s Game 1 victory and hit the game-winning three with seconds to go.

Aaron Gordon double-double in the win, scoring 10 points (3-of-10 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs) with 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes against the Raptors. Gordon struggled with his shot on the offensive end but played good defense in Kawhi Leonard.

“Just making things difficult for him, getting him away from what he wants to do initially,” Gordon said about defending Kawhi. “Just trying to make him second-guess and use his counters and third move, and then keep him off the free throw line.”
All-Star center Nikola Vucevic struggled in Game 1, making just 3-of-14 attempts (4-of-4 FTs) for 11 points with eight rebounds, three assists, one block and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes. That the Magic won with just 11 points from Vucevic is shocking.

Jonathon Isaac (concussion) returned to action for Game 1 and scored 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting to go with eight rebounds, three blocks and one 3-pointer in a team-high 40 minutes. Isaac missed the final regular season game with a concussion. Michael Carter-Williams scored 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting with five rebounds, two assists, and two 3-pointers in 18 minutes. MCW took a Kyle Lowry arm to the face in the second half, but got away from it with just a bloody nose and will play Tuesday.

Why Bet on Toronto?

The Raptors certainly had their chances in Game 1. Pascal Siakam gave the Raptors a 90-84 edge after a short hook with 5:55 remaining in the game. There were five lead changes and four ties during the final 4:16. After Kawhi Leonard drained a three-pointer to tie the game, he hit a baseline fadeaway with 1:02 left, giving Toronto a 101-99 lead. DJ Augustin answered with a layup to tie the score at 101, then followed it up on the Magic’s next possession with the game-winning three-pointer from the top of the key. Leonard’s three-point attempt on the last trip fell short.

Leonard made 10-of-18 attempts for 25 points (2-of-3 FTs) against the Magic on Saturday, adding six rebounds, three assists, three 3-pointers, and four turnovers in 33 minutes. Leonard played in his first playoff game in two years. Siakam had points on 12-of-24 shooting with nine rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks in 42 minutes. Siakam’s break out season continued into Game 1 of the playoffs. Marc Gasol scored 13 points (5-of-9 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs) with six rebounds, four assists, two 3-pointers and zero turnovers in 32 minutes.

Magic vs Raptors Game 2 should be a revenge one for Toronto.

Kyle Lowry was not good at all. He missed all seven of his shots and both of his free throw attempts for zero points on Saturday, adding seven rebounds, eight assists, and two steals in 34 minutes. The silver lining for Lowry is that he was team-best +11 and was the only member of the starting five with a positive plus/minus.

Toronto fell to 1-6 when starting a first-round playoff series at home with Saturday’s loss. The Raptors have responded by posting a 5-1 record in the next game. Overall the Raptors are 6-2 at home (any round) after dropping a series opener and 6-6 overall in Game 2 of a playoff series. Toronto has not trailed 0-2 in a first-round series since facing Washington in 2015.

Toronto has won eight playoff games the last two seasons – in all eight wins the Raptors have made more three-pointers than its opponents.
