The Stars Group, NBA Extend Gaming Reach To Australia With BetEasy Partnership
The Stars Group and the NBA are taking their sports betting partnership down under.
In a Tuesday press release, the league announced that it has brought on BetEasy as its “official wagering partner” in Australia.
The online sports betting leader in the country, BetEasy is majority owned by The Stars Group, which itself inked a sports betting deal with the NBA in December under the BetStars brand.
Not the first international deal for NBA
The NBA also has an official gaming partner, Codere, in Mexico. This Australia deal represents another major step in the NBA's evolution on legal sports betting:
“As we continue to explore international opportunities in the sports betting space, we are thrilled to extend our partnership with The Stars Group to include BetEasy in Australia,” Scott Levy, executive vice president & managing director of NBA Asia, said in the release.
“Australia has set the standard for cooperation between leagues and sports betting operators, and we are excited to leverage the local and global expertise of BetEasy to create the best possible gaming experience for our passionate NBA fans in Australia.”
BetEasy widens NBA gaming reach
In becoming the official wagering partner of the NBA, BetEasy now has access to NBA assets and marketing materials, according to the release. Additionally, the NBA will directly promote BetEasy's products to Australian users, including on the league's official local website, the NBA app and the league's localized social media accounts.
To boot, BetEasy becomes the presenting partner of “NBA Pick'Em: Weekly 6.” The free-to-play game allows fans to predict the outcomes of games for a chance to claim prizes. This game, according to the release, will launch “later this year.”
BetEasy will also have access to NBA official data while working closely with the league to “protect the game's integrity and promote responsible wagering.”
More about BetEasy
The wagering company just made its debut last fall, rolling out in August after CrownBet acquired and integrated with William Hill Australia.
BetEasy prides itself in offering “category-leading sport and racing streaming” offerings. Of course, its affiliation with The Stars Group helps.
The ownership group is one of the world's most-licensed online gaming operators. Subsidiaries of The Stars Group combine for licenses and approvals in 21 jurisdictions around the world, including in New Jersey.
BetEasy also holds the titles of the official wagering partner of the Australian Football League and the premier wagering partner of thoroughbred broadcaster Racing.com. Now, BetEasy has the NBA.
“Basketball is the most-popular and fastest-growing sport for Australian wagering customers,” BetEasy CEO Matt Tripp said in the release, “and our partnership with the NBA will allow us to offer the best NBA betting experience for our customers.”
