Both figures are far and away records for the state. Retail sports betting launched in November 2018 while mobile betting went live in June.
The $266.7 million in mobile handle jumped 34.3% over the previous record from October. Overall handle grew 31.2% while total revenue rose 15.9% to $20.6 million, according to the state report.
Online sports betting in PA accounted for 84.3% of the total. That’s up slightly from 82.4% in October.
Growth was healthy throughout the state as every casino grew its sports betting handle in November compared to October. The only exception was Boyd‘s Valley Forge, which saw retail handle slip 21% to $3.2 million.
But Valley Forge’s online partner, FanDuel Sportsbook, more than made up for that decline.
FanDuel Sportsbook owns Pennsylvania
It looks like bettors in Pennsylvania are really, really smitten with the sportsbook by FanDuel.
FanDuel took $149.7 million in online bets last month, up 31.4% from October. The total accounts for 56.1% of the online handle and 47.3% of Pennsylvania’s total handle.
Whether FanDuel can hang onto its market dominance after the NFL season ends will be closely watched. It doesn’t hurt that the operator is getting another Pennsylvania partner, either.
FanDuel Sportsbook was selected as the retail and online sports betting operator for Cordish Companies‘ Live! Casino and Hotel located in Philadelphia’s Stadium District. Putting the brand within walking distance of all four professional sports teams’ homes will bring FanDuel even more organic exposure.
DraftKings makes PA mobile sports betting debut
DraftKings Sportsbook was likely hoping for a bigger splash in nearly a full month of Pennsylvania mobile sports betting operations.
The operator took $16.2 million in bets after launching Nov. 4 with Penn National’s Meadows Racetrack & Casino.
The other new debut in November was Kindred‘s Unibet brand, which launched through an agreement with Mohegan Sun Pocono. Unibet managed just $1.9 million in handle.
Other PA sports betting operator results
Once again, the BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse brands, operated by Rush Street and Kambi, combined for a distant second. The two brands combined for $63 million in online handle. The land-based casinos, Rivers Philadelphia and Rivers Pittsburgh, combined for $17.7 million in retail handle.
Greenwood Gaming‘s Parx followed Rush Street’s combined operations in third with $22.4 million in online handle.
Fox Bet, which operates with Mount Airy, generated $13.5 million in online handle. That’s up 72.2% from October, which could be due to the launch of online poker. Fox’s gaming partner, The Stars Group, launched the PokerStars brand’s online poker games in early November.
