Super Bowl 54 Player Prop Betting

Super Bowl 54 Player Prop Betting

Super Bowl 54 is set to take place on February 2, 2020, at Hard Rock Stadium between the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs and the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers. Both teams cruised to victory in their divisional round and conference championship games and now the Chiefs are slight 1.5-point favorites with the total coming in at 54 points.

If you’re looking for a full preview of the big game, check out Ryan Fowler’s article.

There are many other betting options for Super Bowl 54 and I’m here to provide information on player props you can wager on such as the OVER/UNDER for passing yards by each quarterback or which players will score touchdowns.

Quarterback Props for Super Bowl 54

There are several options for quarterback props, primarily the OVER/UNDERs for passing yards, passing touchdowns and pass completions. Essentially, you are betting on the success, or lack thereof, of one or both signal-callers.

The wager I like here is UNDER 304.5 passing yards (-113) for Kansas City QB Patrick Mahomes. The 2018 MVP has eclipsed 304.5 passing yards just three times over the last 11 games and is going against a San Francisco team that surrendered the fewest passing yards per game in the NFL at 169.2.

Receiver Props for Super Bowl 54

Similar to the QB props, you can wager on receiver props like OVER/UNDER receiving yards and receptions as a whole. This prop can be a little more difficult, since there are several different receivers who can have a big game or a quiet game on any given night against different defensive schemes.

That said, I like Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce OVER six receptions at +100. Kelce, a safety valve for Patrick Mahomes, has had at least six catches in 11 of his 18 games this season and has a knack for creating space against the men who cover him.

Touchdown Scorers for Super Bowl 54

A touchdown scorer prop is exactly what it sounds like, playing a wager on which player will score a rushing or receiving touchdown. That is important when looking at a quarterback with enticing plus-money odds but this prop doesn’t include passing touchdowns.

One player I like to find the end zone in the big game is San Francisco fullback Kyle Juszczyk at +550. He is a tremendous blocker but is underrated around the goal line, catching seven balls on seven targets in the red zone this year. Under the big lights, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a trick play called to get the Niners fullback a touchdown.

What is a prop bet?

A Super Bowl prop is a bet on the occurrence or non-occurrence of certain player, team or event milestones that may not directly correlate to the outcome of the game. For example, you could bet on the number of yards a running back will rush for or the number of sacks a defensive end will record.

What do the plus (+) and minus (-) signs mean in Super Bowl betting?

When you visit a sportsbook, you’ll notice odds will be followed by + or -. Depending on the type of bet, these symbols are used to designate the favorite and underdog. Faves will always have the minus sign and dogs will have the plus sign.

For example, if you were making a moneyline bet, the odds would look like this:

  • Kansas City Chiefs -125
  • San Francisco 49ers +105

Here, the Chiefs are the favorite and the 49ers are the underdog.

However, with props, there isn’t always a fave or dog. In this case, it’s more about probability. Let’s say you want to bet on quarterbacks. Prop odds would look like this:

Which QB will have the most passing yards?
  • Patrick Mahomes -160
  • Jimmy Garoppolo +175

In this case, you would look at probability. Oddsmakers are predicting that Mahomes has a 61.54 percent chance of having the most passing yards and Jimmy G has a 36.36 percent shot of having more passing yards.

Our Odds Calculator will show you what you’d win based on the odds, amount bet and what the possibility of each option is.
