Cousin Sal, Gagnon Still Vying for Prize Money in Ultimate Football Challenge
Two of Team Odds Shark’s top entrants in Las Vegas football contests this year are still alive and well with regards to competing for prize money as the clock ticks down to three weeks remaining before the end of the 2019 season. Harry Gagnon and “Cousin Sal” Iacono still have a shot to cash in the Golden Nugget’s Ultimate Football Challenge, both sitting within 2.5 points of the top 20 that are paid out after 17 weeks.
Harry and Sal Stay Within Striking Distance
Gagnon’s ’Cuseboy entry has been a mainstay in the top 50 for the entire season, while Sal has been as high as fourth place and as low as 134th out of 282 total contestants. Each of them put together strong Week 14 performances to stay in the mix down the final stretch, and that will be even tougher for some with the college football regular season over. The Ultimate Football Challenge is the only Vegas contest that allows entrants to make any combination of seven pro and opportunity to bet on college football picks every week.
Sal went 5-1-1 in Week 14 to move into a tie for 45th place with 56 points (55-41-2) out of a possible 98, and Gagnon was 5-2 to improve to a tie for 34th with 57 (56-40-2). The cut-off for the top 20 is currently at 58.5 points while the overall leader has 65.5. There is only one college football betting game scheduled for Week 15, which is Army-Navy this Saturday, before the bowl season kicks off the following Friday with a pair of matchups.
Joes vs Nos
In the NFL-only Circa Sports Million, two Joes continue to battle it out in an effort to end up as the team’s best finisher. Joe Fortenbaugh went 3-2 in Week 14 to move a half-point ahead of Odds Shark’s own Joe Osborne, who had a 2-3 mark. Fortenbaugh now sits at 37-32-1 or 37.5 points, and Osborne is right behind him at 36-32-2 (37). In addition, Pamela Maldonado is within striking distance of Kris Abbott after going an impressive 3-1-1 in Week 14, as she has 28.5 points (27-40-3) to his 29.5 (29-40-1).
Not so SuperContest
The team’s four SuperContest entrants all remain under the .500 mark, with Jon Anik leading the way at 32-37-1 after going 2-3 in Week 14. Tony Riccobono and Paulo Antunes are tied at 30-37-3 following winning weeks, with the latter going 3-0-2, and Frank Schwab is 27-41-2. The SuperContest is the world’s largest football handicapping contest, paying out the top 100, with the winner taking home nearly $1.5 million.
