2020 NFL Scouting Combine Odds
The top NFL-hopeful prospects are set to descend upon Indianapolis, Indiana, for the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine from February 23 to March 2. Ahead of the combine, sportsbooks have released odds on how the event will play out.
Online shop BetOnline has odds available for the top 40-yard dash times, 20-yard shuttle times, three-cone drill, 60-yard shuttle, broad jump, vertical jump and bench press reps. Here’s a look into what’s expected from the rookies this time around.
The 40-yard dash is the most well-known activity of the scouting combine for a reason. Pure speed is an extremely important commodity to succeed in the NFL depending on position, but no player has been able to top John Ross’s stellar showing in 2017. Ross ran a 4.22-second 40-yard dash, besting Chris Johnson’s 4.24 that previously served as the record.
Do you think any player is going to beat the time of the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver in 2020? The odds on the record being broken sit at +500, with the chances of it holding up coming back as the -1000 favorite.
The soon-to-be NFL rookie with the lowest OVER/UNDER 40 time is standout Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy at O/U 4.44. After Jeudy, D’Andre Swift (4.47) and JK Dobbins (4.49) are next up.
One of the highlights of the combine is always NFL Network personality Rich Eisen. Eisen has been participating in “Run Rich Run” since 2005 and has raised over $1 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through his yearly dashes. After breaking the six-second barrier in 2014, he did it again in 2016 (5.94) before slipping back to 6.02 in 2017 and then nailing a 5.97-second run in 2018. Last year, he did it in 6.00 even.
The O/U has been set at 6.01 for his 2020 run, with the juice priced at -120 for both the OVER and UNDER.
Best of the Rest
There are no individual props on the board for the 20-yard shuttle, but the O/U for best time in the drill is sitting at 3.88. Betting on the UNDER 3.88 will cost you, however, as it’s sitting at -300.
The book is expecting more of the same from the 60-yard shuttle, as the UNDER 10.81 seconds is in minus money at -300, with the OVER offering value at +200.
The bench press is another important activity at the combine, and oddsmakers are clearly projecting a player to go above and beyond on the bench in 2020. The OVER 38.5 reps is favored at -150 and the UNDER finds itself as the +110 underdog.
