  1. Jay Williams is my least favorite analyst at ESPN. He predicted the Cavs to SWEEP the Warriors in the Finals last season just to be contrarian and catch headlines. And fading his college basketball picks have made me a ton of money in the past two seasons. I’m pretty sure he went like 0-8 in picking games for College Gameday this season. Also picked Arizona to win the title last season, promptly lost by 20 to Buffalo in the first round.

  2. This is so funny to me.

I really liked Jay Williams up until this year. Between this and some of the other dook-related takes he’s had (like them being able to beat the Cavs), he’s gotten old quick.

  3. I actually initially wanted to defend him here bc it seems like he says the tripping thing in jest…but if you really boil down what hes saying its that hes fine with the poor kid from Duke just accepting his “everyone hates me” villain role and playing with an edge/nasty side, but theres “no place in the game” for a player from syracuse to do the same.

Heres an unrelated JW story. I met Jay Will at a bar once in NYC (the Ainsworth, for those interested). Nice guy. He really dislikes the term “Dookie” (I’m sure all Duke fans/players do but this was a bit more). I said something like “I’ve always been a fan even though I’m a Tar Heel and you’re a Dookie.”

He made a very memorable point about how nasty it was. He was like “its basically calling me a piece of shit to be flushed’ or something (not a direct quote, im paraphrasing something from ab 5-6 yrs ago). It was extremely awkward and I felt awful actually because he seemed genuinely upset and I meant absolutely no ill will behind it. I think we talked bball for like another minute or so but I could tell he was done with the conversation.

I thought I could absolve my guilt by sticking up for him here but nah, this aint the spot. Maybe next time Jay Will.

  4. Truthfully, I think Jay may have a bit of brain damage from that horrific motorcycle accident some years back. It’s almost cruel that ESPN consistency allows him a platform to showcase his lack of critical thinking ability.
