FanDuel Sportsbook App Goes Live Today In Pennsylvania; Will It Dominate PA Like NJ?
This is a developing story and will be updated. Last updated 8 p.m. Eastern, July 22.
The early leader in the New Jersey online sports betting market is coming to Pennsylvania.
Here comes FanDuel Sportsbook PA
FanDuel Sportsbook went live for testing after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, before going fully live later in the week.
Here is a statement from FanDuel:
In partnership with Boyd Gaming and Valley Forge Casino Resort, FanDuel is bringing its mobile sports betting experience that is simple, secure, and more convenient than ever to individuals located in Pennsylvania.
Under the supervision of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, Monday, July 22 at 4 PM will mark the start of a three-day testing period for FanDuel’s mobile sports wagering app in the Keystone State.  Sports fans in Pennsylvania can download the FanDuel Sportsbook app, sign up and place wagers during this testing period.
FanDuel is live in PA thanks to online gambling platform provider GAN.
The latest PA sportsbook app
Users should be able to access the online sportsbook via limited hours this week. If you're located in Pennsylvania and 21 years of age, you should be able to sign up and start betting this evening.
Here is the testing schedule:
- Monday, July 22 from 7:30 p.m. ET – 11:59 p.m. ET
- Tuesday, July 23 from 2 p.m. ET – 11:59 p.m. ET
- Wednesday, July 24 from 12 p.m. ET – 11:59 p.m. ET
It joins several other sportsbooks that have gone live since spring:
- SugarHouse Sportsbook PA
- Parx SportsbookÂ
- BetRivers Sportsbook
PA online sports betting, like NJ?
FanDuel Sportsbook PAÂ should look a lot like the NJ sportsbook that has dominated the Garden State.
FanDuel has held a stranglehold on the New Jersey market for much of 2019, both online and with its physical sportsbook near New York City.
It will hope to replicate its success in the online realm in Pennsylvania. If it does, it will provide a compelling narrative about the quality of the FanDuel product and the value of its brand as sports betting rolls out in more states across the US.
In the first full month with PA sportsbook apps live, more than 40% of all wagers came online. The state also set a new record for money wagered with the advent of online wagering.
The addition of FanDuel will move an even larger percentage of wagering online. In New Jersey, 80% of all money bet is via sportsbook apps and sites.
