The Chicago Blackhawks will be looking to avoid a fourth straight loss on home ice when they host the surging Vegas Golden Knights in Saturday night NHL betting action.
Chicago is coming off consecutive 4-3 losses to Nashville and Calgary, extending a stretch of futility on home ice that has left the team winless in nine of its past 12 games going into Saturday night's matchup at the United Center.
After posting just four victories over a 25-game stretch between late October and mid-December, the Blackhawks showed signs of a turnaround, winning five of six conests over the holiday season.
The club has endured hard luck since, though, falling to defeat by a single goal on three occasions while losing four of five overall. However, Chicago shooters have still managed to generate a respectable 3.25 goals per game over the club's past eight contests, fueling a 5-2-1 run for the OVER on the totals in hockey betting.
Despite the recent encouraging signs, the Blackhawks remain stalled near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, and have tumbled to distant +8000 longshots to finish atop the Central Division on the NHL odds board.
The Golden Knights open a brief two-game road trip in the Windy City gunning for a fourth straight road victory. Vegas has tallied consecutive losses on just one occasion in 29 games since opening the season on a shaky 7-10-1 run, and has rocketed from 14th place in the Western Conference standings into a battle with Calgary and Nashville for first place.
The Golden Knights' turnaround has not been overlooked on the NHL odds. Vegas has rebounded to an attractive +1300 wager on the Stanley Cup odds, and has rejoined the favorites with +500 odds to repeat as Western Conference champions.
Capitals Host Blue Jackets on Saturday NHL Odds
In other Saturday NHL betting action, the Washington Capitals will be aiming to solidify their perch atop the Metropolitan Division standings with a fourth straight victory as they play host to the division-rival Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Capitals increased their lead on second-place Pittsburgh with a 4-2 win in Boston as +120 underdogs on Thursday night, but it remains a tight two-way race at the top of the odds to win the Metropolitan, with Washington at +140 just ahead of the Penguins at +150.
Washington has also produced mixed results on home ice, winning just three of five, but has allowed more than three goals just once over that stretch. The Capitals have played stingy defence while splitting a pair of dates with the Blue Jackets earlier this season, capped by a 4-0 shutout win in Columbus on December 8.
The Blue Jackets travel to the capital vying for their first consecutive victories in two weeks after outlasting the Nashville Predators in a 4-3 overtime win as narrow -105 home underdogs on Thursday night.
Columbus sits on the edge of the playoff picture after alternating wins and losses over its past six games, including consecutive road losses in Carolina and Tampa Bay. However, the Blue Jackets' 2-1 win in Washington as +100 underdogs on November 9 marked the team's third win in four road meetings with the Capitals since the start of last season's first-round playoff series between the two clubs, which Washington won in six games.
